Attorney profile
Eric M. Wicks
Criminal defense attorney, Melbourne, Florida. Twenty-four years in Brevard County courtrooms, on both sides of the aisle.

He knows how the State builds a case, because he used to build them
Most defense attorneys have only ever sat at one table. Eric Wicks has sat at both.
As a former Assistant State Attorney, he prosecuted misdemeanor and felony cases and learned firsthand how the State decides what to charge, what to offer, and what it can actually prove at trial. As a former Assistant Public Defender, he carried a full defense caseload and tried cases against the office he had just left.
That background shapes how he approaches a case now. He reads a police report the way a prosecutor reads it, looking for the parts of the file the State will lean on and the parts it would rather not talk about.
How he works
Wicks Law is a single-attorney firm by design. When you hire Eric, you are not handed off to an associate or a case manager. He handles the consultation, the negotiations, and the courtroom appearances himself, and he practices in the Brevard County courthouses in Melbourne, Titusville, and Viera. Se habla espanol.
Professional memberships
- National College of DUI Defense
- DUI Defense Lawyers Association
- Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers
- Brevard County Bar Association
The first two are national organizations devoted specifically to DUI practice. DUI law changes constantly, particularly around breath testing and license procedure, and keeping current on it is its own discipline.
Se habla espanol
Eric speaks Spanish fluently. Consultations, phone calls, and case discussions happen directly in Spanish, without an interpreter in the middle of a conversation that is already hard enough.
